Foreship follows up with Project Management successes

Completions of extensive refurbishments through 2024 highlight how Foreship LLC has been realizing the ambitions to expand its dry docking project management services it set out earlier this year.

Foreship’s US-based business has undertaken projects for multiple cruise clients in recent months, covering a wide range of open deck work, suite refurbishments and venue conversions.

Brendan Harris, Director of Project Management Services, Foreship LLC says offering a dedicated channel for project management has been pivotal in earning cruise line confidence as customers ramp up refurbishment programs. While Covid-19 is receding from view, its impact on ship conversions has been deep: revitalizing project management skills has been essential for the industry’s recovery, says Harris.

“Cruise companies have welcomed the fact that Foreship’s project management ‘human capital’ is available to expedite their fleet capital investment plans,” he says.

Foreship manages conversions from start to finish, liaising between the client and vendors to ensure all stakeholder requirements are fulfilled, and taking care of quality assurance and cost management throughout.

“We aim to be a flexible and integrated resource to clients that adds value to projects all along the line,” adds Harris.

“During their work on board, project managers supervising and validating installations may also take the role of owner representative,” says Benjamin Sward, President, Foreship LLC. “We’re the first people to hear about any issues that need to be addressed to keep projects on track.”

Successes this year have included two large scale projects, with one bringing together the largest ever team of Foreship project engineers on-site. Foreship LLC has also completed breakthrough conversion work with Foreship customers which had not previously worked with its project management services team.

Two major projects drydocking projects are already lined up for 2025.

Sward says that the Foreship project management team is also in the unique position of being able to leverage expertise from 100+ naval architecture and engineering professionals across the company.

"This specialized technical resource is beyond the scope of a typical single-function project manager. The strong professional relationships and camaraderie among our technical experts offer seamless access to the expertise required for any project."
